Hyacinths Like Catalog Pictures

by Kent Higgins The email reminders full of images and fall catalogs have been arriving. Ah! What pleasant reading. What feasting of eyes at the luscious fruits and blooms as they are illustrated! Although the variety of things that lend themselves to fall planting is not so wide as in the spring, there are some things that are strictly for fall planting. Phuket

This is my first visit and I arrive on Wednesday (16-Sep) to a… rainy Phuket. It was quite a turn off and all of us were quite disappointed, since the main objective was the sun and the nice beaches there. Anyway, the weather did start to clear up a little in the afternoon and the days after, though we get rain often in the early hours of the morning. The sand on the beach is very fine, not the variety you get at the old playgrounds in Singapore (which we don’t see anymore these days). The w

And now, going on 23-years, I’ve been awkwardly and unsuccessfully (so far) chasing her down.  My Grandfather was the Grandson of an Austrian immigrant who came to Western Pennsylvania by himself at 19 year

Makeshift, by Hunt & Gather’s Natalie Purschwitz

Makeshift is a year-long project by Natalie Purschwitz, clothing designer and founder of  Hunt & Gather , the award-winning Vancouver shop and clothing line. Her project is this: for a whole year, she will wear only clothes she has made herself, and that includes everything – “all of my clothes, socks, shoes, underwear, coats, jackets, hats, bathing suits, and accessories.” There are only a few exceptions – hair accessories, tools, eyeglass lenses. The outfit for Day 1 is her black coverall

But I always doubted if they had misspelt GOD. I got back to the agency with a feeling of triumph. The receptionist failed to see the glint in my eyes and asked her regular “Have you signed the register?’, reducing me to just another employee, the variety who need to record their attendance to earn their w
