Santiago to Fisterra

... so its not a 'slog'. There was a great bar at 'the top' of the town and, in view of the walking distance, we had a good breakfast. ... Once I showered and ate the thought of the long walk tomorrow is not as scary as I thought it would be, and if Mary needs a break I'm fine with the idea of walking o n my own....

I am the one who told him that the long distance would not be a problem and we could do it. He was the skeptic. I was the optimist. Those roles have 100% been reversed....I feel like we are seeing this long distance thing totally and completely differently....Long distance relationships fucking suck. . . absolutely terrible. I am so homesick. So unbelievably homesick. I miss home. I miss Cade. I miss Cade so much....

Mall Inaccessible, Part 2: West County Center

This needlessly long walk is necessitated, primarily, by the lack of a sidewalk descending the grade from Manchester Rd to Macy's on the malls's northern end. ... Including a sidewalk here would reduce the walking distance between the mall and Edward Jones to only 220 meters....

Happy With Your Health & Fitness

Part of our happiness is being happy with our body.  You don’t need to be a perfect “10″ to be happy with your body.  Little things that you do every day, like exercise, eating properly, and sleeping, yes sleeping, can effect our bodies.  Any amount of exercise is better than none.  If you are out of shape you can start by walking a little each day.  Gradually increase the distance and the speed of your pace.  Walking is really the best, most natural exercise.  Once you have the walking down

Learn Baseball Hitting Drills – Should You Swing or Not Swing

One of the most common words used in hitting is the word “swing” as associated with a hitter as he “swings” at the ball.  And although swing is not a “nasty” word, it does give the impression that the bat makes a long arc as it goes to the ball. Lets take a second and visualize a baseball bat and the swing.  The club head is moving and arcing as it approaches the ball for contact.Hitters should not visualize this when thinking about “swinging”.You shouldn’t be doing this.It leaves little cha

What gets me through the hard days

I have found a book that grounds me and gives me the perspective I crave in my life, Broken Open, by Elizabeth Lesser.  This book has helped me in so many ways to understand purpose and change.  -The second lesson: not to dwell on whether or not something should be happening to me.  In the process of grappling with the fact that I would struggle with her situation for her whole life, I realized that my only hope was to give up the life that had been, in order to make room for the life that is

Runnin’ Runnin’ And Runnin’ Runnin, Like The Black Eyed Peas

This Saturday, my bad hair cut and I are going to run our first 5K race. ( Dave , too.) After two months of training, last Friday I ran the 5K distance (3.1 miles) at the walking place in 36 minutes. (Dave did it in 26.) Today, I ran the actual race route (with hills and everything!) as told to me by a woman at the walking place who heard it from her friend who ran the race two years ago. So. I did that in 40 minutes. (Dave did it in 29.) You may be thinking that I don’t run v
