Going the (long) distance

Like many triathletes, the fever spread quickly for Haverhill's Ken Sparrow once he caught it. Five years ago, the very idea of a triathlon (swim, bike and run) competition, much less an Ironman Triathlon (2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, 26.2-mile run), never crossed Sparrow's mind, and he gravitated toward the sport almost by accident.

Athletics: Frank named recipient of USATF Masters Long Distance Running Award

INDIANAPOLIS - Norm Frank, who has completed more marathons than any American in history, will be presented with a Special Recognition Award by USA Track & Field's Masters Long Distance Running Committee on April 19, 2010. The award will be presented in recognition of Frank's unique contributions to the sport of Masters Long Distance Running.
