NKorea Fires Missiles Launch Toward US Feared

SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea fired a barrage of short-range missiles off its east coast in a possible prelude to the launch of a long-range missile toward Hawaii over the U.S. Independence Day holiday. Firing a ballistic missile on the July Fourth celebration would be a challenge to Washington, which has been rallying international support for enforcement of U.N. sanctions imposed against Pyongyang following a May 25 nuclear test. North Korea is banned from testing ballistic missiles under U

Elderflowers – an Herbal, Urban Forager III

the Elder   The Elder is a common used in the urban landscaping where I live. This time of year, the clouds of small creamy flowers are easily seen from a distance. The bark, inner bark, leaves, flowers, and berries have a long tradition of medicinal and culinary use. Today, I want to focus on the flower. The delicate scent and flavor of the elderberry flower has haunted me these past few weeks. While in Las Vegas, of all places, I had  the pleasure of a brilliant meal (food and comp

Salar de Uyuni

Of all the places I have visited, the most impressive is the salar de uyuni , the world’s largest salt flat, and its surroundings. This area is so unique and amazing that it is hard to find the right words to describe it. I will try anyhow. East Village reportage

This is a drawing of my favorite corner in New York City. I’ve spent many hours on this corner shooting video, but I’ve never drawn it until now. It’s walking distance from where I live, and it reminds me of the old New York, the one I grew up in. On a hot summer day in the East Village you’ll see kids playing in an open hydrant, folks hanging out windows calling to each other, couples kissing, teenagers listening to music, and people playing card games on the old fashioned card tables. It’s lik
