In COAST’s most recent blog post entitled “The Most Expensive Distance Between Two Points is Always a Rail Line,” ... The sweeping claim, made by COAST, didn’t take long to garner a response on their very own blog:...

The Holiday Hustle

(I know, right?) My folks lived walking distance from one another, so it wasn’t that bad. ... gonna stick around long after everyone’s boarded a plane and gone home. So what’s the take-away here?...

“Quick Fix” or “Lets all revel in this rejection”

COLUMBIA, MD -I gave myself an assignment. It’s this thing I’ve been doing on my blog, giving myself homework, because I don’t do anything unless someone with authority tells me to do it, and since I’m technically qualified to teach writing (let’s not talk about the actuality of that), I figured I could be my own teacher and give little lessons to myself. My most recent completed assignment was to write and submit an essay for publication. It didn’t matter if I got published as long as I stopped

born to run?

Not to turn this into a “Deva’s exercise habits” blog, but I feel the need to document my most recent exercise endeavor… Since my friend Peter decided to run a freaking marathon in March (He’s a little crazy, but ambitious), I decided I could get off my lazy ass and train for a half-marathon (and maybe run it too…). PS: I have negative amounts of running experience.  I’m starting from zero.  Or maybe -5. I hated those fitness tests in junior high sooooo much.  Well, I hated the running par

The Energy Information Administration predicts that the worldwide demand will sink in 2009. 2009 Monte Shelton Northwest Classic Rally: Day One

My father and I have been Vintage TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) Rallying now for eleven years and three months, and you would think we’d have it figured out by now. Our first rally together was in May of 1998, and I flew back to the USA from England, where I was working at the time, to join him in his newly restored “retirement project” E-type Jaguar. We won our class and had a great time driving all over Maine in this amazing car. Since then we’ve rallied all over the country, and once even all t

2009-2010 Never Too Early to Poll It In.

Because I like having my summers off, I try to avoid summer blogging, but I saw that The Big Lead was unhappy with Dick Vitale’s most recent poll , where he had Duke ranked No 5. I wondered, is Dickie V that far off? Can Duke really be the 5th best team? Maybe TBL is the one off, they have Carolina at No 2? After a lot of soul searching, I figured I’ll take a stab at my own meaningless August college basketball top-20 rankings. I couldn’t do any worse than those folks. #1 KANSAS - Bring

Medicare for Those That Want It? Why Not?

Liberals Revolt Over Public Option by Jonathan Martin & Carrie Budoff Brown - Politico.com/Common Dreams The White House's signal that it's willing to back off support for a public health insurance option has sent congressional liberals into full revolt, bluntly warning the administration that no legislation will pass without a government-run plan. A group of left-leaning House Democrats tells POLITICO that a bill without a public option simply won't win enough votes in their caucu
