Long-distance love – Amanda Talar – timesunion.com – Albany NY
I did the whole long - distance relationship once. It was college, and it sucked. The first year was great, and I had 100% trust that the coed hall he lived in wouldn't be an issue for us at all. I visited almost every weekend and we ...

Idyll by the sea
A good holiday is one that is spent among people whose notions of time are vaguer than yours ~ J. B. Priestley. I smiled as I read this and thought about my weekend holiday at Kashid. Despite being close to both Pune and Mumbai, Kashid remained undiscovered and ignored for a long time, just a small fishing village. A few years ago, the quiet beach suddenly found world-weary holiday makers rushing towards it every weekend, and it responded by remaining isolated and laidback. Thankfully, for

Peaceful days of Corfu
Mon 5 Oct 2009 Posted by Greece Travel Blog under Corfu | | Send a comment Hundreds of people buzzed around in the excitement of the scene, many of them backpackers. It was almost midnight by the time we stumbled into the sweaty throng on the dock at Corfu Town. Despite the hour, the air was muggy and close and it was unpleasant to carry the gear. Michelle sat on a concrete pedestal beside a group of high-spirited Italians while I set off to find somewhere for us to stay.We spent the day orga

Wyoming Summer Fun
What a place to be! Wyoming’s mountains provide natural beauty at its best. Last weekend hiking amongst the glorious wildflowers with their profusion of colors was amazing. Some day I’ll learn their names. While my fishing was slow one pretty cut throat kept me from being skunked and I did several “long distance releases/quick releases”! Living here in “God’s Country” is such a joy! I can see why most of my neighbors camp every weekend; we’ve got a 3 weekend run of camping also. Life is g

BC attractions: Ultimate Summer weekend getaway spots in BC
I am usually totally exhausted by Friday evening and looking for some good weekend getaway spots. Check out the list of my top 10 getaway spots in British Columbia and take your pick for this weekend: 1. CHILLIWACK LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK : If you live in or around Vancouver area then one of the bes

A Milanese Morning (with NEOs)
The driver who took me from Aosta to Milan yesterday evening spoke no English, but he was an affable young man who had a love for fast cars. As we drove along a fine Alpine highway, a low red sports car moved fast us so quickly that I almost didn’t see it. But suddenly the driver, who had said next to nothing thus far, erupted with “Italian car! Beautiful!” He stretched out the last word as if savoring the idea, then looked over at me making a thumbs up. Well, it was beautiful, and it was follow

Why the Strangler?
A reader asks that I use this blog to share a little about how my books develop from initial concept to final draft. I’ll try, but readers should understand that a strange sort of apathy descends as soon as a project is finished. When I am writing, I am obsessed with the book being drafted, absolutely submerged in it. Robert Penn Warren once likened this feeling to having a new baby: you want to check on it constantly, feed it, pat it on the head. But the moment the book is finished, I lose all
