What Would Your Mother Say………..
I could not hear him from that distance but it appeared that he was repeating "What the ____?! ... Long story short, my husband was able to start the car after a perilous ride down the hill with no breaks or steering and we finally got back home over an hour later....

The loneliness of the long-distance runner photographer
After two weeks of decorating, I was looking forward to a long lie-in this Sunday morning. But it was not to be. Instead I was out of bed at 0630, off to photograph the Pattaya marathon for my loyal reader(s). Down the hill to my chosen snapping point and…there were no runners. Strange. I could clearly see the advertising banners in my head: “Pattaya Marathon, Sunday 19th July”. Oh. Bugger.

How To Have A Succesful Long Distance Relationship?
Long Distance relationships are a true test to a couple’s commitment and personal limits. LDRs take a great amount of effort to maintain and often people involved in them, realize that they evolve into a state of emotion that they never found themselves in before. When your partner is miles away from you, it is very easy to let things go wrong and lead your long distance romance to an early death. Some people find it difficult to bridge the distance through communication, others become overly ob

Manvotional: Self-Made Men by Frederick Douglass
Once a very popular and inspiring ideal, the concept of the self-made man has fallen into disfavor in our modern times. In a day when men often shirk personal responsibility, people excuse their failings with the victim card and everything is a “disease” over which we have no control, people are cynical that a man can really become whatever he chooses by pulling himself up by his bootstraps. We want to believe that luck was really the determining factor in a successful man’s achievements, thus

How to Live on a Lower Income
Posted on: July 11, 2009 By BlondieWrites Experiencing a drop in income can send us into a panic and our budgets into a tailspin. Unfortunately, it can happen to just about anyone. You or your spouse could be laid off, work could dry up if you’re self-employed, or you or someone in your household could fall ill. Times like these call for drastic money-saving measures. If you have adequate savings, you will be able to live off of that for a few months. But whether you have an emergency fund or not

Afghan-Pakistani hostility impedes US troops: Washington Post
Afghan-Pakistani hostility impedes US troops: Washington Post Lt. Gabe Lamois’s mission sounded simple: Hike down the hill to the Pakistani Frontier Corps’ border post, inform the commander there that U.S. and Afghan troops were going to be moving through the area at 3 a.m., and hike back up the hill. Before Lamois had even finished speaking, the Pakistani officer was shaking his head. “We have a lot of enemies here,” Lt. Ghulam Habib explained. His jittery troops might mistake the Americans fo

You Can’t Take a Vacation from Death
This post is about the death reference I made in another entry — I feel like it deserves a more in-depth discussion than just a passing sentence or two in a vacation post. Though we had a great vacation (as I’m sure ya’ll are sick of hearing about at this point), it was definitely peppered with sadness and guilt. Yes, guilt. Five people died this past week. 1. We heard about Farrah Fawcett’s death shortly before we left. This announcement was expected as the poor woman had been batt
